Portuguese translation services

Portuguese is something of a dark horse of a language. Most people think Portuguese is just spoken in Portugal - but it's actually the language of South America's largest country, Brazil, too. When the Pope was decreeing which language should be spoken in which areas of South America, he drew a line down the centre of the content and ordered that those on 'the left' should speak Spanish, and those on 'the right' should speak Portuguese. Brazil, huge as it is, represents an extremely attractive market for foreign companies, particularly those connected to the oil industry. And whilst on the subject of oil, we must not forget Angola, the southern African Portuguese-speaking nation where much foreign investment is taking place, and many government-related documents are having to be translated.

As with other Romance languages, translation from English into Portuguese results in language growth, an important consideration when planning the layout of documents and websites. And like many European languages, Portuguese is used differently in different parts of the world. Brazilians speak a quite different Portuguese to Iberian Portuguese speakers, and this difference can even lead to problems in understanding one another. Just as with the British and the Americans, some Brazilians and Portuguese could be said to be divided by a common language!
