Gujarati (Gujarātī) is one of the languages forming the Indo-Iranian group. It is spoken in India as a coofficial (regional) national language (in the provinces Gujarāt and Maharashtra) and one of the languages spoken in Pakistan. It is a very complex language with a lot of different dialects. Kutchi is many times referred to as a dialect of standard Gujarati.
The language takes the vocabulary and also the structure from Persian but the script is an old abugida very similar to Sanskrit, called Gujarati script. It was developed recently, only 4 to 5 centuries ago.
